Bill Rhoades Harmonica Blow-off
Bill Rhoades hosts his annual Harmonica Blowoff July 4 on the Front Porch Stage. Featured this year will be:
Mike Moothart — Mike has been a fixture on the Blues scene here in the Northwest for over 35 years. He started in Eugene, and later moved to Portland where he played with the Jim Mesi Band and Jimmy Lloyd Rea & the Switchmasters. Paul deLay once called him, “the Greatest Unknown Harmonica Player in the World.”
Kim Field – Kim played in Seattle for many years with The Left Hand Men. Not only a great harp player and vocalist, Kim is an excellent writer and journalist. His book on harmonica, Harps, Harmonicas and Heavy Breathers, is a must-have for anyone interested in harmonica. He currently fronts his own Country band, and leads special projects like his BB King Tribute.
Hank Shreve – Hailing from Springfield, Hank has been called the ‘future of Blues Harp.’ He is an accomplished harp player and vocalist and the last couple of years he has been part of some Tribute shows to the late Paul deLay. He will perform with his big band on the festival main stage earlier in the afternoon July 4.
Bill Rhoades – Bill has been playing blues for over 40 years. Over that time he has played with Robert Cray, Albert Collins, Jimmy Rogers, Luther Tucker and many more. In 2015 Bill was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame. He has also won the Cascade Blues Assoc. “Muddy” award for Best Harmonica seven times.
