It’s rock and roll, it’s the blues, it’s high-level energy and when Rebecca Lovell hits the stage with her electric guitar, along with sister Megan on the lap steel, everyone in the room is jamming along with them.” – Forbes Magazine
“This isn’t your basic Stevie Ray Vaughan-styled blistering blues rock. It’s far more primal, malicious, and unsettling.” – American Songwriter
Larkin Poe made their Northwest debut at Waterfront last summer and blew away us all—young and old, blues purists as well as fans of alt-rock and Americana. We’ve rarely invited anyone back so soon, but we’re making an exception… Larkin Poe returns FRI July 5 to help us celebrate the adventurous, trail-blazing women of blues, soul and R&B!
These singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist sisters create their own brand of Roots Rock ‘n’ Roll: gritty, soulful, and flavored by their southern heritage. Originally from Atlanta and currently living in Nashville, Larkin Poe are descendants of tortured artist and creative genius Edgar Allan Poe.
At a young age, the girls were classically trained on violin and piano while being exposed to classic rock icons including Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd. Rebecca (lead singer) now plays lead guitar and Megan (harmony vocals) contributes on lapsteel. After experimenting with an array of musical styles, they found a way to blend a sound that channels their distinct voice. The duo has previously hit the road as opening and backing bands for Conor Oberst, Kristian Bush (Sugarland) and Elvis Costello, who raved, “they have a head start on the rest of us with the unique power and beauty of sibling harmony.” Between appearances at such major festivals as Bonnaroo, Larkin Poe are currently working on their next album.
