Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble carry on the long-standing tradition of bringing New Orleans zydeco sounds to the festival. Curley Taylor comes from a long line of Louisiana zydeco musicians, and he started out at 16 in his father’s band Jude Taylor and the Burning Flames. By the time he was 25, Curley was a first-call zydeco drummer and had toured with CJ Chenier, son of legendary Clifton Chenier.

Along the way, Curley developed a hankering to try accordion and learned the instrument within six months of picking it up. Seven albums later, he and his band have played zydeco all over the nation, and the band’s most recent album, 2018’s Rise Up, has brought rave reviews. Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble remain true to the tradition Curley was raised in, while adding contemporary flavor that gives the band crossover appeal to a wide audience.
