Mary Flower is a seasoned player of guitar and lap slide guitar, an educator at music intensives all over the country, a singer and a songwriter, and a BluesMusic Award nominee. With 13 CDs to her name, Downbeat magazine calls Flower “a world class finger-style and lap-slide guitarist.” Along the way, she has performed at Merlefest, the Calgary Folk Festival, Edmonton Blues Festival and on Prairie Home Companion. Jorma Kaukonen calls Flower, a “national treasure in your own backyard.” Flower is the artistic director of Blues in the Gorge, a guitar “camp” held every October near Portland.
Kim Field is a singer, songwriter and harmonica player who has toured internationally and performed at such showcases as the San Francisco Blues Festival, the Bumbershoot Festival, and the Waterfront Blues Festival. Field has appeared on bills with such rhythm and blues legends as Muddy Waters, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robert Cray, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Gregg Allman, James Cotton, Otis Rush, John Lee Hooker, Albert Collins, the Righteous Brothers, Walter Horton, and Big Mama Thornton. He currently performs with his Portland-based band, the Perfect Gentlemen (which hosts the Festival’s Harmonica Blow-off on the Front Porch Stage, July 4).
